Admission Requirements for Graduate
ADMISSION POLICIES
The academic year is divided into two semesters with at least 18 weeks per semester and a summer term with six weeks. Applicants who seek admission to the graduate program must:
- Be holders of a degree which is relative to the graduate program they intend to pursue.
- Have obtained a GPA of not lower than 2.0 or its equivalent in the baccalaureate course for the masteral program. Applicant with a lower GPA than that prescribed may be admitted on probationary status which may be converted into regular status upon completion of a semester’s regular course load with a GPA not lower than 2.0.
- Have obtained a GPA of not lower than 1.75 or its equivalent in the master’s degree for the doctorate program. Applicants with a lower GPA than that prescribed may be admitted on probationary status which may be converted into regular status upon completion of a semester’s regular course load with a GPA not lower than 1.75.
- Have proper and corresponding undergraduate and graduate academic backgrounds if their educational background is not related to the intended field of specialization. Completion of 18 academic units in the master’s program and 21 academic units in the doctorate program shall be required.
If applicants have already completed the courses substantially equivalent to the required courses, they may waive the latter by applying to the IGS Dean in writing
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit duly accomplished application form and information sheet together with the documents listed below to the IGS and Registrar Office. Submitted requirements are subject to the evaluation and approval of the IGS Dean and Registrar of the College.
- Transcript of Records from the school last attended (original to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar with remarks copy for BASC and a photocopy to the IGS Office)
- NSO Birth certificate, original to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar and a photocopy to IGS Office
- Four copies of 2×2 photos, two copies to be submitted to the Office of the Registrar and the other two to the IGS Office
- Photocopy of NSO marriage contract (for married women only)
- Permit to study issued by competent authority (if applicant is a public employee)
- Honorable dismissal (if the applicant is a transferee)
- Letters of Recommendation from two of the applicant‘s former professor, principal or supervisor
- In addition to the above requirements, foreign applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit certificate of Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), student visa, security clearance from the Bureau of Immigration and Deportation, Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR), permit to study from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and resident guarantor of his /her character.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES
Applicants must follow the procedures stated below.
- Fill out the application form and information sheet which can be secured from the IGS Office and present other documents stated in the admission requirements as required to the IGS Dean for evaluation. 2. Fill out the enrollment, pre-advising and clinic forms which can be secured from the Office of the Registrar. Newly admitted student, shall present to the IGS and Registrar’s Office the original Transcript of Records, certified true copy/ photocopy of original NSO birth certificate, certified true copy/ photocopy of original NSO marriage contract and four copies of 2×2 photos. For old students, clearance form shall be passed and signed by the IGS Dean before securing a pre-advising form from the registrar’s Office.
- Submit the filled out clinic form to the College Clinic.
- Proceed to the IGS Office for assessment of pre-advising form.
- Enroll at the Office of the Registrar using the computerized registration system.
- Proceed to the Accounting Office for the assessment of fees.
- Pay at the Office of the Cashier.
- Present the receipts to the Office of the Registrar and secure the Certificate of Registration.
- Submit a copy of the registration form to the IGS Office.
