BASC Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group Shines in Thailand, Wins Top Awards at 35th Thailand International Folklore Festival

With hearts full of pride and joy, Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) celebrates the remarkable victory of the BASC Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group (BASC-LTFG) at the prestigious 35th Thailand International Folklore Festival 2025, held in Korat, Chonburi, Nonthaburi, Pathumthani, and Bangkok, Thailand, in time with the vibrant celebration of the Songkran or Water World Festival on April 11–17, 2025.

The Foundation of Cultural Heritage Promotion of Surin Province awarded the BASC-LTFG with two of the festival’s highest recognitions and other awards:

Best in Performance Best in Costume during the performance for the International Seminar on Folklore about Water Plus certificates.

Receive 1 trophy od Excellent Performance during the performance for the Opening ceremony of Seminar on World peace declarer Award Pins for outstanding international artists Plus certificate.

1 trophy of excellent performance during the performance in Prachin buri Plus a certificate.

These honors are a testament to the group’s exceptional talent, discipline, and artistry in showcasing traditional Filipino dances with grace, authenticity, and heart. Through their powerful stage presence and intricate cultural expressions, BASC-LTFG once again brought the rich and colorful heritage of the Philippines to the global spotlight.

Representing BASC with pride and excellence, the delegation to the 35th Thailand International Folklore Festival was composed of dedicated faculty, talented students, and proud alumni. Leading the team was Dr. Ma. Leonora C. Sta. Ana, Director of the Culture and the Arts Development Office (CADO), along with Dr. Regulus Caibigan, BASC-LTFG Adviser; Mr. Lester Parungao, Co-Adviser; Engr. Diosdado Dimagiba, Folkdance Trainor; and Mr. Oswald Solis, Indigenous Dance Trainor. Showcasing their artistry and passion on stage are student-performers Ms. Maria Julianne T. Riego, Ms. Lisette L. Irarum, Ms. Althea D. Laxamana, Ms. Jhulianna O. Ybarreta, Mr. Roy DC. Sumaway, Mr. David Lawrence R. Lamiel, Mr. Rafael O. Laxamana, and Mr. Razel Reyes. Adding strength and support to the group were BASC-LTFG alumni-volunteers Mr. Aljohn Gimeno and Ms. Marvie Lyka Imbien, who returned to represent their alma mater with pride. Truly, this delegation stood as a shining symbol of Bulakenyo pride and Filipino cultural excellence on the international stage.

More than a victory in competition, this achievement is a triumph for Philippine culture and identity. As the world watched and applauded, BASC’s delegation stood as cultural ambassadors, proving that our traditions continue to captivate, inspire, and unify across borders.
