BASC Hosts "B2B Insights" for a Deep Dive into Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine









SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan, Philippines – July 31, 2025 – The Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) today hosted “B2B Insights: Academic Talk Series on Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine,” a collaborative event with Rotary International ICC, Taiwan Rotary. The program, held at the BASC Rene Cayetano Hall, convened experts and enthusiasts for an extensive exchange on the latest advancements and historical perspectives in animal science and veterinary fields, with a particular focus on the dairy industry.
The event commenced at 9:00 AM with Dr. Cecilia S. Santiago, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivering the Opening Remarks. Dr. Meriam F. Sulit, Director for the International Relations Office, followed with an Acknowledgement of Honored Representatives and Attendees, emphasizing the significance of international academic collaboration.
Dr. Jameson H. Tan, President of BASC, delivered a message highlighting the institution’s dedication to excellence and innovation in agricultural education. The international partnership was further solidified by RTN Winnie Cheng, Board of Director for Rotary International ICC Executive Council East and South-East Asia Expansion, who conveyed a message and introduced the distinguished guests from Taiwan.
A key segment of the activity featured a presentation by Chun-Hsuan Chao from the Ministry of Agriculture, Northern Region Branch, Taiwan Livestock Research Institute. Mr. Chao provided a detailed overview of the evolution of Taiwan’s livestock and dairy industry, tracing its history and current global standing. Subsequently, Mr. Chu-Wei Ken, the owner’s son of Meigui Dairy Farm, a prominent Taiwanese dairy operation, delivered a visual presentation on their farm, sharing insights into their success factors.
The presentations transitioned into a Forum, where BASC faculty and officials engaged in a question-and-answer session. Discussions focused on animal science and veterinary medicine topics, especially those concerning the dairy industry. The Taiwanese officials and guests provided comprehensive explanations regarding the processes that have accelerated the development of Taiwan’s dairy industry, generating substantial interest among participants.
The event also incorporated a cultural element with performances by the BASC Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group. Under the direction of Dr. Ma. Leonora C. Sta. Ana, Director for Culture and the Arts Development Office, the group delivered captivating cultural performances, showcasing the rich heritage of the Philippines.
The program concluded with Dr. Honeylet J. Nicolas, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production and Development, delivering the Closing Remarks. She expressed appreciation to all participants and reaffirmed the value of such collaborative initiatives. Dr. Amerigo B. Ramos Jr., a BASC faculty member, served as the Master of Ceremony for the event.
