BASC Earns Global Recognition in First-Ever THE Impact Rankings 2026 Participation

Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) has achieved a significant milestone in its internationalization and sustainability journey after securing an overall Sustainability Impact Ranking of 1001–1500 among 1,603 participating institutions worldwide in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2026. In its inaugural participation, BASC joined a distinguished group of higher education institutions recognized globally for their contributions to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The achievement underscores BASC’s growing presence in the international higher education landscape and reflects the institution’s steadfast commitment to promoting sustainable development through quality education, impactful research, innovation, extension services, and meaningful community engagement.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings is one of the world’s leading assessments of university performance against the SDGs. Unlike traditional rankings that focus primarily on research output and academic reputation, THE evaluates institutions based on their real-world impact through four key areas: research, teaching, stewardship, and outreach. The 2026 edition further strengthened this framework through the Sustainability Impact Ratings initiative, highlighting universities that create measurable and lasting societal impact.

BASC’s participation demonstrates its long-standing commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable education, advancing gender equality, reducing poverty and inequalities, creating opportunities for decent work, and strengthening partnerships that directly benefit communities and stakeholders.

In its first appearance in the rankings, BASC earned recognition across six Sustainable Development Goal categories:

• SDG 1 – No Poverty: 601–800 out of 931 institutions globally
• SDG 4 – Quality Education: 801–1000 out of 1,335 institutions globally
• SDG 5 – Gender Equality: 301–400 out of 1,095 institutions globally
• SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth: 801–1000 out of 1,003 institutions globally
• SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities: 601–800 out of 932 institutions globally
• SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals: 1001–1500 out of 1,610 institutions globally

More than a global ranking, this recognition affirms BASC’s commitment to integrating sustainability across its core functions of instruction, research, extension, production, and governance. It also reflects the collective efforts of administrators, faculty members, researchers, staff, students, alumni, and partner institutions who continue to contribute to the College’s mission of creating positive and lasting societal impact.

As BASC continues its journey toward universityhood and greater international engagement, this milestone stands as a testament to the institution’s growing global relevance and its unwavering commitment to transforming lives through education, innovation, service, and sustainable development.
