BASC Celebrates GAD with Energetic "Juana Zumba" Kickoff

Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) launched its Gender and Development (GAD) event, “Juana Zumba: Kembot Hindi Shembot Kickoff,” on March 28, 2025, as part of its National Women’s Month celebration. The BASC Gymnasium was filled with energy as both teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the event, held in collaboration with the BASC Faculty and Employees Association (BASCFEA). Mam Edna Mae D. Cruz, GAD Director, and Ms. Jermaine M. Calilap, BASCFEA Vice President for Non-Teaching, opened and facilitated the program.

The event promoted health, wellness, and camaraderie within the BASC community through invigorating Zumba routines. Ms. Russel Amirah H. Balacania, faculty from the Institute of Computer Science, and a celebrated Zumba enthusiast, led participants in a fun and inclusive atmosphere.

BASC highlighted that “Juana Zumba: Kembot Hindi Shembot” is part of a series of initiatives aimed at promoting gender and development and fostering a more inclusive and empowering environment. The College believes that these events contribute to the physical well-being of employees and strengthen community bonds.

BASC thanked the GAD and BASCFEA Offices for their partnership in the successful event. The institution believes the program is important because it shows BASC’s commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive community, promoting employee well-being, and advancing gender equality, which are crucial for its success. BASC encourages continued support for GAD initiatives to build a more gender-sensitive and equitable college.
