Project Yabong Empowers Farmers Through Knowledge Sharing

The Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation Inc. (ASSIST) and Royal Eijkelkamp, in collaboration with Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) successfully conducted the Project Yabong Knowledge Sharing Forum and Culmination Activities across various municipalities in Bulacan, bringing together farmers, partner organizations, and agricultural experts to strengthen collaboration and promote sustainable agricultural practices.
Held on April 13, 14, 15, and 16, 2026, the series of activities took place in Malolos, BASC, Norzagaray, and Angat, serving as venues for participants to reflect on the accomplishments of Project Yabong and its impact on local farming communities. The forum highlighted the project’s contributions in improving agricultural practices, strengthening partnerships, and empowering farmers through knowledge exchange.
The event featured discussions and presentations of the Project Yabong Case Study Report, led by resource speakers including Dr. Meriam F. Sulit, Director of the International Relations Office; Dr. Nerilyn J. Victoria, Dean of the College of Management; and Mr. Emil Gulapa, former BASC instructor. They were among the key collaborators and consultants of Project Yabong, alongside other agricultural specialists. The sessions focused on practical farming approaches, knowledge-sharing initiatives, and strategies to promote agricultural sustainability and productivity.
The forum also highlighted the collaborative efforts behind the project’s implementation through the partnership led by ASSIST and Royal Eijkelkamp, a global company specializing in innovative soil and water research solutions. The initiative received funding support through this partnership in collaboration with Bulacan Agricultural State College.
Farmers and stakeholders actively participated in the forum, sharing experiences, challenges, and best practices that contributed to meaningful discussions. The exchange of ideas provided participants with opportunities to gain insights and strengthen community-based agricultural development initiatives.
The importance of sustained collaboration was emphasized during the culmination activity, highlighting its role in producing meaningful and long-term positive outcomes for farming communities across the province.
Gratitude was also extended to all participating farmers, stakeholders, and partner institutions for their commitment and active involvement in the program. It was underscored that the continuous sharing of knowledge and collective efforts among communities remain essential in advancing sustainable agriculture and improving the welfare of local farmers.
Through initiatives such as Project Yabong, BASC continues to strengthen its extension services and community engagement, reaffirming its commitment to empowering farming communities through innovation, collaboration, and shared learning.
