BASC and UNMAS Partner for International Lecture Series on Sustainable Agribusiness and Agricultural Technology

BULACAN, Philippines – The Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) successfully hosted the 7th and 8th International Lecture Series themed “Sustainable Advances in Agribusiness” and “Sustainable Advances in Agricultural Technology”, respectively, from August 19-20, 2025, in collaboration with Universitas Mahasaraswati Denpasar (UNMAS). The events were held at the BASC Main Campus Function Hall.

These activities served as significant opportunities for the BASC community to engage with international experts on the future of agribusiness and agricultural technology. They provided invaluable global perspectives to students from the Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, and Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering programs.

The events’ joint opening ceremony was led by Dr. Cecilia S. Santiago, BASC’s Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Meriam F. Sulit, Director of the International Relations Office at BASC, introduced the guest speakers, lecturers from UNMAS, and other key officials from BASC in attendance.

A special message was delivered by Dr. Drh Nyoman Yudiarini, S.KH., M.AGB, Dean of the Faculty of Agribusiness at UNMAS. Her address was accompanied by a visual presentation of their university, showcasing their institutional expertise.

The core of the events was a series of lectures by a distinguished panel of experts from UNMAS, including Ir. Cening Kardi, MMA; Dr. Drh Nyoman Yudiarini, S.KH., M.AGB; Dr. IA. Made Dwi Susanti, SP., M.AGB; Dr. Ni Putu Sukanteri, SP., M.AGB; Dr. Dra. I Gusti Ayu Diah Yuniti, M.SI; Cokorda Javandira, SP., MP; and Dr. Putu Eka Pasmidi Ariati, SP., M.P. They shared insights on sustainable solutions and innovations in the agribusiness and agricultural technology sectors. A question-and-answer portion followed, allowing students and faculty to engage directly with the experts, fostering a deeper understanding and translating theoretical knowledge into practical, community-focused solutions.

The events also featured a cultural performance by the BASC Liping Tagalog Folkloric Group, adding a unique cultural dimension. The lecture series concluded with closing remarks from Dr. Nerilyn J. Victoria, Dean of the BASC College of Management, and Engr. Alfredo L. Taluban Jr., MENM, Dean of the BASC College of Engineering and Technology. These events reinforced BASC’s commitment to providing a platform for intellectual discourse and global collaboration on critical issues in agriculture and sustainability.
