BASC Welcomes AACCUP Accreditors for Hybrid Survey Visit

San Ildefonso, Bulacan — Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) formally opened the Hybrid Accreditation Survey Visit of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. in a program held September 22, 2024 at the BASC Function Hall, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence and continuous quality assurance.

The opening program, where some AACCUP accreditors joint virtually, was led by College President Dr. Jameson H. Tan, who, in his welcome remarks, emphasized the institution’s steadfast pursuit of quality education.

The programs under survey include:

  • BS in Elementary Education – 4th Survey, Phase 2
  • BS in Secondary Education – 4th Survey, Phase 2
  • BS in Agriculture – 4th Survey, Phase 2 revisit all areas
  • BS in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering – 3rd Survey, Phase 2
  • BS in Food Technology – 3rd Survey, Phase 2
  • BS in Hospitality Management – 3rd Survey, Phase 2 revisit all areas
  • Master of Arts in Education – 3rd Survey, Phase 2 revisit all areas
  • and BS in Elementary Education (DRT Campus) – 1st Survey Visit

Dr. Ronald Reagan T. Alonzo, Vice President for Administration and Finance, introduced the BASC officials, while Engr. Alvin G. Quizon, Quality Assurance Director, presented the AACCUP cluster coordinators and accreditors, as well as the local accreditation counterparts. The AACCUP Cluster Coordinators, Dr. Cecilio S. Baga (Cluster 1) and Dr. Reynaldo T. Gelido (Cluster 2), outlined the purpose and procedures of the three-day survey. Both stressed that the evaluation process will be based on the prepared documents that will be presented to the accreditors, exercising the highest degree of professionalism.

The event was highlighted by the introduction of AACCUP accreditors, whose expertise and insights are expected to guide BASC in strengthening its academic programs. Led by Dr. Cecilio S. Baga, Dr. Reynaldo T. Gelido, the AACCUP accreditors who evaluated the BASC programs include Dr. Divinagracia M. De Guzman and Dr. Helen F. Delos Santos (Bachelor of Elementary Education-Main Campus); Dr. Leah C. Navarro and Dr. Melinda A. Sisles (Bachelor of Secondary Education); Dr. Gilbert Standly D. Baylosis and Dr. Lilibeth L. Gumpal (Bachelor of Science in Agriculture); Dr. Mario B. Mendoza and Dr. Rommel Octavius R. Nuestro (Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering); Dr. Milano O. Torres and Dr. Alfee B. Capule (Bachelor of Science in Food Technology); Dr. Charmine V. Rivera and Dr. Lianne T. Abuan (Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management); Dr. Cristeta C. Dulos and Dr. Evangeline Castro (Master of Arts in Education); Dr. Christopher B. Dacer and Prof. Marites B. Ybañez (Bachelor of Elementary Education-DRT Campus); and Ms. Princess N. Roderno (Library).

Dr. Cecilia S. Santiago, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the closing remarks, calling on the community to work hand in hand for the institution’s continued growth.

Exit Conference and Closing Program

After three days of evaluation, BASC held the Exit Conference and Closing Program on September 24, 2025 at the BASC Function Hall. The accreditors, represented by Cluster Coordinators Dr. Baga and Dr. Gelido, shared their general impressions, noting the dedication of the institution to upholding quality assurance mechanisms despite challenges.

Representing BASC President Dr. Tan, VPAA Santiago delivered a message of gratitude and the pledge of commitment.

Certificates were awarded to the accreditors in recognition of their contribution, with Dir. Quizon leading the presentation. Dr. Honeylet J. Nicolas, Vice President for Research, Extension, Production and Development, closed the program with an assurance that the recommendations from AACCUP will be integrated into BASC’s academic and institutional development plans.

Meanwhile, the Exit Conference and Closing Program for the 1st survey visit of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BASC-DRT Campus) is scheduled on September 26, 2025.

With Ms. Geraldine A. Cruz, Director for Public Affairs and Information Office, as host for both the opening and closing programs, the event ended with the singing of the BASC Hymn, symbolizing unity and commitment to excellence.
