Regional Convention of Teacher Education Students 2022

Institute of Education once again proved that its teacher education students are ready to become the next nation-builders.

Teacher education students of Bulacan Agricultural State College – Institute of Education showcased what they have learned in the academe in the recently concluded Regional Convention of Teacher Education Students 2022 hosted by Holy Angel University School of Education Student Council (Eduk Council) on February 16-18, 2022.

The event with the theme, “Upgrading Pre-Service Teachers’ TPACK Amidst Challenges in Education” was participated by 22 colleges and universities in Region III including Bulacan Agricultural State College – Institute of Education. The forum highlighted various online competitions which were joined by the participating schools. These competitions were Teaching Demonstration Competition, Tech-Based Instructional Materials Making Competition, and Battle of the Brains – Quiz Competition for Primary Events. Furthermore, The Reflection, official student publication of HAU School of Education made a collaboration with the Eduk Council. The said publication had also facilitated competitions including Paghagilap – Pagkuha ng Adbokasiyang Panlarawan, Patnubay – Paggawa ng Publicity Materials, and Pagkamulat – Paglalahad ng Malikhaing Paspas Dila.

At the end of the event, IEd delegates for the said competitions bagged and brought home awards. For the secondary events, Institute of Education Student Council placed 3rd in Overall Champion after winning awards in individual categories. Ian Edrey I. Cruz of BEEd 3A hailed as the 1st place winner in Patnubay – Paggawa ng Publicity Materials while Lloyd Dafydd R. San Pedro of BEEd 3A ranked 4th in Pagkamulat – Paglalahad ng Malikhaing Paspas Dila.

Meanwhile, Group 1 in Tech-Based Instructional Materials Making Competition bagged the People’s Choice Award after garnering a total of 2,340 likes on YouTube, the highest among all the entries. The group consisted of Rodney Darren G. Dela Cruz (Group Leader), Sherina Jem C. San Mateo (Oral Presenter), Bless Carmi Ann D. Santos, Ronald Bryan S.D. Vitalista, Kaithleen Raizen V. Nicolas, Ma. Andrea O. Nicolas, and Joey Weng C. Vitug.

Mrs. Maria Arjie T. Domingo and Mr. John Edward Y. Cruz served as the coaches, respectively.

Aside from these online competitions, the forum also highlighted a two-day webinar on February 17-18, 2022 via Zoom and Facebook Live. Two education experts were chosen as the resource speakers. They were Dr. Felina P. Espique, who tackled “Use and Design of Technology-Driven Lessons” and Dr. Efren Abulencia, who shared his expertise in “Ensuring Excellent Teacher Quality through Competency Framework/Standards and Changing Landscape for the 21st Century Teachers.”

REGCON, as a premier student-initiated forum of teacher education students aims to become a venue for the Teacher Education students in Central Luzon to engage in various teaching practices that will help and prepare them into becoming quality Filipino teachers. It also aims to become a platform for learning, fellowship, and sharing of best practices in response to the demands of the changing educational landscape.
