BASC Recognized Among Region III’s Top Teacher Education Institutions in EQUATE Awards

Bulacan Agricultural State College once again proved its commitment to excellence, being among the nine HEIs in Region III hailed as top Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) in the Philippines at the EQUATE Awards – Elementary Category, held on April 2, 2025 at the Manila Hotel in Manila.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) presented the awards, recognizing the HEIs’ consistent dedication to high-quality pre-service teacher education programs. This dedication is reflected in their commitment to meeting CHED’s standards, achieving successful program accreditation, and demonstrating excellent performance in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT). BASC President Dr. Jameson H. Tan personally received the prestigious award on behalf of the College , a moment that marked a proud milestone for the institution.

The EQUATE Awards ceremony was opened by CHED Chairperson J. Prospero E. De Vera III who stressed that the HEI awardees are certainly the best of the best, and commended their efforts in investing in the future of the children, the communities, and the nation.

Hon. Mark O. Go, District Representative of Baguio City, and Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, emphasized in his address that indeed, teachers should be highly competent and capable of advancing teacher quality, and ensure that they are well-supported and well-equipped to mold the minds of the next generation.

The keynote address was delivered by Hon. Lucas P. Bersamin, Executive Secretary of the Republic of the Philippines, who stressed the vital role of teachers in shaping the nation’s future. He urged all HEIs to reflect on the great responsibility they hold, that is, to make sure that future educators are not only competent but also kind and compassionate.

Meanwhile, Sen. Win Gatchalian, in his closing remarks, highlighted the significance of TEIs in enhancing teacher education in the Philippines. He noted that educators play a key role in nurturing the next generation of leaders, scientists, scholars, and trailblazers.
