The Research, Extension and Training (RET) Office of the Bulacan Agricultural State College (BASC) has successfully conducted its 17th Agency In-house Review of Completed & On-going Research and Development/Extension Projects and Social Researches last August 14 at the Farmer’s Training Center Hall with Dir. Crispulo G. Bautista, Jr., OIC-Regional Director of the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office III (DA-RFO III), as the Keynote Speaker.
Instead of Dir. Bautista, Dr. Eduardo L. Lapuz, Jr., the current Director for Research and Technology Development of the DA-RFO III graced the event and delivered Dir. Bautista’s message to all the participants who attended the event.
“We at DA, are very happy and grateful for seeing all the LGUs participating in this kind of activity. The LGUs and SUCs have been our partners in implementing projects and supporting the agency on almost everything that we do. Dir. Bautista would also like to extend his earnest gratitude for inviting him to this event. Rest assured that the DA will always work hand in hand for the betterment of the agriculture sector,” Dr. Lapuz shared.
A total of 20 technical papers were presented during the review; seven under technical/agricultural research category, seven for development/extension category and six under social research category. Also under the poster category, seven were presented and evaluated by the selected board of evaluators.
Mr. Albert P. Ulac’s paper entitled “Growth and Yield of Hybrid Rice as Affected by Different Cultivation Methods” bagged the first place under the Technical and Agricultural Research Category and will be expected to participate in the Regional In-house Review; followed by Dr. Honeylet J. Nicolas’ paper “Growth and Reproductive Performance of Meat-type Rabbits under S&T Based Production Systems” and Mr. Rael C. Tejada’s “Quality Assement of Vermicompost using Different Substrates (Carabao Manure, Goat Manure and Cow Manure)” bagged the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Under the Social Research Category, Dr. Nicolas snatched the first place for the best paper award with her paper entitled “Feedbacks on Industry Partners and OJT Experience: Inputs for the Improvement of Local Internship Program for Agriculture Students”, while Ms. Kristine C. Buenaventura’s paper “Assessment of Classroom-based Artificial Intelligence in BASC” and Mr. Herbert M. De Jesus’ externally funded project “Hybrid Rice Adoption: A Socio-Economic Assessment of Farmer’s Experience ” placed 2nd and 3rd best paper, correspondingly.
Dr. Quirino D. Dela Cruz, Dr. Edmar N. Franquera and Mr. Jose Emmanuel I. De Luna served as the evaluators for the Technical/Agricultural Research Category; Dr. Hermogenes M. Paguia, Dr. Ma. Teresa SJ. Valdez and Dr. Renita SM. Dela Cruz were the evaluators for the Development/Extension Category; and for the Social Research Category, Dr. Arnold E. Velasco, Dir. Daniel R. Bawan and Prof. Thelma B. Estera served as the evaluators.
A total of 93 participants composed of guests, evaluators, administration officials; faculty, farmers and students witnessed the event. Cash and plaque were given for the 1st place winners, while for the second and third placers, cash and certificates were given as incentives.
